IGARSS 2014 / 35th CSRS is an Eco-Friendly Event
The organising committee of IGARSS 2014 / 35th CSRS, taking place at the Québec City Convention Center, decided to collaborate with Écologistik for the implantation of sustainable actions, with the goal of reducing the environmental footprint of the event.
2014 Actions
- Give priority to a host venue that is LEED Canada and Boma Best certified;
- Foster an accommodation nearby the event;
- Promote the 3 RV (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-Valorize) thinking among the exhibitors;
- Use the sorting system on the site for recyclable and compostable waste valorization;
- Calculate the greenhouse gas emissions emitted by the participants travels, in order to quantify it and to set future goals;
- Use the water stations at the Convention Center to eliminate single-use water bottles;
- Include local products in the menu creation procedure;
- Redistribute excess food to a non-profit organization;
Your role
To reach those goals, the organising committee needs your support.
- Help us reaching a waste reduction goal. We have an objective of 160 grams of ultimate waste generated daily by participant. You can help us by avoiding consumption of not recoverable products;
- Recycle and valorize compostable materials at the time you dispose of it;
- Use active transportation (bus or others);
- Be ready to mention your mode of transportation at your arrival;
- In a participative and commitment mindset, do not hesitate to give us your feedback and suggestions concerning the eco-friendly aspects of the event at info@ecologistik.ca
