Technical Presentations
Q1: What is a tandem-hybrid format?
A1: The tandem-hybrid format is adopted by ICASSP 2022 to allow authors to present virtually through a pre-recorded presentation for attendees to view on-demand, as well as a live interactive poster session in Gather.Town from 07-13 May, 2022. This compulsory virtual presentation will be followed by in-person events from 22-27 May, 2022. This in-person events will consist of plenaries, industry keynotes, panel and expert sessions, and networking events. In addition, for participants traveling to Singapore or for those within China to meet in Shenzhen, China, the organizing committee has provided rooms for signal processing society technical committees to conduct in-person oral/poster presentations, which can be opted in by authors. Q2: When would the official date and time slot for poster presentations of accepted papers be released?
A2: We are working with the signal processing society technical committee chairs in forming the paper presentations and this will be out in middle of March ‘22. Note that this poster presentation is compulsory and it is organized as a live interactive poster session in Gather.Town from 07-13 May, 2022.
Q3: What is the format of paper presentation?
A3: All papers will be presented via the online platform. The online presentations will take place during 7-13 May, 2022. While the online presentations are mandatory, the in-person presentations are optional. If you travel to Singapore or Shenzhen, China for in-person participation, you will get the opportunity to present your papers onsite. The actual format will be announced later.
Q4: I have decided to attend the conference in Singapore on 22-27 May 2022. Can I skip the virtual conference on 7-13 May 2022?
A4: No, virtual presentations are mandatory. You must make your online presentation whether or not you travel to Singapore or Shenzhen, China.
Conference Registration
Q1: How do I register for in-person conference at either Singapore or Shenzhen?
A1: Please register as per normal. You will be prompted to indicate your choice of attendance in the questionnaire.
Q2: If I register for virtual attendance now, can I change to in-person attendance later?
A2: Yes, you may. However, it is subject to capacity of the physical venues. To avoid disappointment, please register for the in-person attendance as soon as possible.
Q3: If I register for in-person attendance now, can I change to virtual attendance later?
A3: Yes, you may. However, it will be subject to the cancellation/change policy unless exceptional circumstance arises which will be assessed in a case-by-case basis. The cancellation/change policy is displayed on the registration portal.
Q4: What are modes of payment available for registrants?
A4: Registrants can choose to pay via wire transfer (also known as bank transfer or telegraphic transfer), major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discovery and UnionPay) or PayPal wallet account.
Q5: Should I choose PayPal (orange button) or Debit or Credit Card (black button) at checkout?
A5: If you wish to pay via PayPal wallet account, please choose the PayPal Option. If you wish to pay via credit card, you may choose either one. If you choose the PayPal option, please click on the “Check Out as a Guest” to bring you to pay directly using a credit card. Alternatively, you may log on to your PayPal account to proceed with credit card payment or simply choose the Debit or Credit Card option. Note: Some registrants may experience outage of service at the Debit/Credit Card (block icon) option due to country-based policies. Please try using the PayPal route.
Q6: What should I do if my payment credit card/PayPal fails?
A6: Please screen capture the failed page and contact registration@2022.ieeeicassp.org with the email ID that you use to transaction with the payment gateway. The team will work with the PayPal account manager to pinpoint the error and suggest a solution. If you have access to your bank’s customer service, please contact them as well. At times, the client financial institutions do block transactions that they deem suspicious. They will be able to lift the blockage for you.
Q7: What should I do if I choose to pay via wire transfer?
A7: Please proceed to register as per normal and choose the wire transfer option. A small bank charge of S$40 will be added to the registration total. Upon successful registration, you will be provided the banking details to transfer the funds. Please approach your bank to complete the transfer with the provided details.
Q8: What happens to the Banquet Ticket?
A8: The local organizers are still making arrangement for conference banquets. The sale of banquet tickets will commence at a later date due to the current covid-19 restrictions in Singapore and China. However, all registrants will be notified when the sales begin.
Q9: As my paper is covered in full by my Professor, and I am a student; to attend the conference in person I would just need to register myself also, but not be attached to the paper?
A9: Yes, since your paper has already been registered under your professor, you will just need to register as student for in-person attendee if you are coming in person.
Q10: I have registered to cover for my paper, and wish to participate in Singapore. However, my co-author will present our paper in Shenzhen, China. How can this work?
A10: Your co-author may present his paper at Shenzhen, China, while you can attend the conference in Singapore without any paper presentation. However, note that both you and your co-author will need to pay for in-person registration in Singapore and Shenzhen, China respectively.
Q11: Is there a no-show policy for in-person presentations?
A11: No. Virtual presentations are mandatory via Gather.Town. In-person presentations are optional.
Travel
Q1: I would like to attend the conference in-person, but my country does not have any Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) arrangements.
A1: Singapore is committed to steadily reopening the borders, but due to the current COVID-19 situation, these plans are being delayed. Once the situation improves, we are hopeful that more Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) will open up to allow for quarantinefree travel. If you have the intention to travel but have no VTL arrangement, please email us at icassp22@cma.sg. We will keep you posted for any updates on the travel arrangements. Q2: I require assistance with VISA application. What should I do?
A2: For visa inquiry, please email us at icassp22@cma.sg. Upon registration and payment, we will help to issue a Letter of Introduction (V39A) for visa application upon request. Unfortunately, please note that we do not provide services of submitting the application on your behalf. You may visit one of the Singapore Overseas Mission to apply.
Q3: What are the hotels that I can stay in?
A3: There is a list of hotels including Marina Bay Sands, listed on our website. Do take a look and if you have any budget issues or require more assistance, please feel free to email us at icassp22@cma.sg.
Q4: What are the traveling times between the hotels and the conference venue?
A4: If you stay at Marina Bay Sands Hotel itself, the Convention Centre is just a 2-min walk away. All the hotels are located in close proximity to the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). As Singapore is a very small country, most of the hotels listed on the website will take you approximately 5 to 10 minutes of the train ride to the conference venue. Some of the nearest hotels like PARK ROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay is only about 10 minutes walk away from the conference location.
